On Saturday 9th October 2021, Joe’s Buddy Line joined Dorking Minds at Ashcombe School in Surrey, for a Mental Health Festival!
All day we hosted a festival of ideas and resources on mental health, wellbeing and resilience.
The day consisted of a range of well-being and mental health tables, with workshops throughout the day. It was open to anyone, from students to parents. The workshops included some of the following:
ππ» Understanding Self-Harm
ππ» How to speak to your child about mental health
ππ» Anxiety, stress and resilience
ππ» Music therapy
ππ» Navigating and understanding the teenage brain
ππ» Understanding body image
ππ» An Introduction to IIST formerly CAMHS
ππ» The benefits of singing
The day then concluded with a raw and heart felt talk by Roman Kemp. He talked about his blossoming bromance with our beloved Joe over the years, his own well-being and mental health, and how important it is to be your buddyβs hero. He gave us the ending statement to check in on our buddies. Ask them how theyβre doing, but ask them twice. Sometimes itβs the buddy who you least expect is the one thatβs struggling the most.
This event was a massive first step for Joe’s Buddy Line, as it was our first official event as a new charity!
MINDFEST 2022… here we come! Bigger and better then before!
